Colchester Gateway Clubs are an independent local charity, providing social clubs and activities for adults with a learning disability.  The main aim of their clubs is for people to enjoy themselves in a relaxed atmosphere. Clubs are held on Tuesdays and Fridays in Colchester and in Clacton on Thursdays.  It also has a Family Support Worker and an  Advocacy Service.

Saffron Walden & District Mencap have a Side by Side group offering the chance for people aged 18+ to meet and do things together in a fun and friendly place.  They meet every Wednesday from 7.15pm until 8.45pm at The Salvation Army Hall, Abbey Lane, Saffron Walden. For more information contact Lizzie on 01279 813651.  The group also arranges a variety of events that take place throughout the year.

Braintree Mencap is the voice of learning disability for the Braintree District. It covers Braintree, Witham, Halstead and the surrounding rural villages.  It offers a wide range of services for people with a learning disability, their families and carers. It also offers a variety of opportunities for individuals or businesses through volunteering, fundraising and events in the community.

City of Chelmsford Mencap is a local, independent charity for  children and adults with a learning disability.  It provides social clubs and respite schemes for people of all ages as well as information and support services for members and their families and carers.

Southend Mencap is a registered charity and was formed in October 1955. The charity’s main aim is to serve the interests and needs of children and adults with la earning disability, as well as those of their parents and carers, in the south east of Essex.

Sudbury Gateway Club meet in Acton Village Hall (behind the Crown Public House) on Wednesday evenings from 7.30pm - they would welcome you to join them.

 

Youth Plus is a project group for young people with a learning disability.  It is run by its members supported by their parents.  Young people without a disability can also join to enjoy the activities and contribute to its running

Thurrock Mencap Society is a local charity run by volunteers in Essex which covers Thurrock and surrounding areas (including Basildon).  They help by giving support to children and adults with a learning disability and their carers.
